happy π day!

In celebration of March 14, also known as Pi Day*, here's a little brainstorm on how to incorporate delicious pies into your wedding plans!

Pass Arounds

Perfectly presented butlered hors d'oeuvres style desserts are so in trend right now. With everyone eating a little lighter and cleaner, your guests will revel in the opportunity to try a little of this and a little of that.

Mini pumpkin pies with a dollop of fresh piped whipped cream is a mouthwatering treat for any time of the year. If you are planning a fall wedding, pair this with a pass around shooter of hot apple cider to warm up your guests!

Pie shooters are also an alternative for passed desserts as well. Check out these tart Lemon Merengue pie shooters below with crunchy graham cracker crumbs on the bottom.

Stations

An assortment of pies to accompany your cake is always a fan favorite. I personally attended a wedding where they served hot apple pie a la mode in the Viennese Hour and it was just what I was craving after the entree. The majority of brides tend to lean towards more of a self-serve station where guests can pick and choose what flavor pie they would like from the display (see below):

Favors

Who doesn't love a little sweet treat to take home? Edible favors like cake pops, truffles, decorated cookies, artisanal chocolate dipped pretzels are popular for today's weddings. Boxed pies and pie pops are a trendy way to thank your guests.
