Vegan and Vegetarian Cuisine

With many guests over the past several years requesting vegan and vegetarian-friendly fare, many wedding couples are now electing to incorporate veggie options into their selected cuisine for the day. Stuffed mushrooms, zucchini noodles, avocados, heirloom carrots, sweet potatoes, and eggplant will take center stage in most passed hors d'oeuvres and entrees in 2019. (How delish does this look?!)

Dark Color Palettes and Velvet All Year

2018 was the year of light and airy with blush tones in the spotlight. 2019 will be full of darker, edgier florals, moody photography styles, and velvet everywhere – from tux jackets to table runners being added to weddings for an added pop of color. (Think Ellie Cashman wallpaper!)

World Traveler Inspired Stations

Couples this year are all about a culinary experience. In 2019, there will be an influx of requests for culturally diverse stations such as elaborate ramen noodle stations, DIY fajitas served in miniature cast iron skillets, healthy gyro bars- complete with hummus, feta, tzatziki and spanakopita, and New York deli stations featuring savory Reuben sandwiches, potato knishes, and assorted local pickles.

Boho Chic Vibes

From décor to dresses, bohemian chic will be a standout style in 2019. Macrame decor, tassels, flowy lace dresses with bell sleeves, table lanterns, Moravian star lighting, and loose floral bouquets will take center stage. For affordable boho bridesmaids dresses that won't break the bank, check out Lulu's!

Passed Desserts

For years, large dessert stations were an absolute must-have at a wedding. Then the traditional cake phased out with the introduction of cupcake towers and donut walls. With the minimalistic trend of removing a full wedding cake, also came passed desserts – small, bite-sized treats that are passed around while dancing. From mini ice cream cones displayed in a rainbow sprinkle box to cinnamon churro shooters with caramel sauce, the options are truly endless. For upscale items, think fig tarts, creme brulee, French macaroons, and tiramisu shooters. Sidenote: I haven't seen it at a wedding yet but, 90's kids - how great would passed Dunkaroo sliders be?! Just sayin' 💁‍♀️

Bringing the Inside to the Outdoors

Coinciding with the velvet trend, weddings will be incorporating more indoor furniture in their outdoor setups, from traditional settees and velveteen ottomans to full buffet tables and wooden shabby chic furniture. Contact Early Bird Vintage for prices and inventory.

Signature Drink Walls

Signature cocktails – his and hers drinks – have been popular for 5+ years. The newest spin on the custom beverage trend is to display it on a wall! With special glassware and lucite racks, the faux greenery wall holds your guests signature drink while they enter from a hospitality lounge or ceremony into your cocktail hour. Not only is the presentation amazing, but the line at the bar will become exponentially shorter!

(Plus, see the bottom photo for a different idea.. a LIVE CHAMPAGNE WALL! 🥂🍾)

Alternative Arrangement Add-Ins

Move out, hydrangeas! Although lush greenery is here to stay, alternative accouterments will take a stand in this wedding season’s centerpiece décor. Reed plumes, Monstera leaves, and various fruit -such as figs and pomegranates - will all be incorporated into 2019 floral designs. If you're local to Long Island, contact Verbena Designs - they are amazing!

Late Night Snacks as Edible Favors

Wine openers and personalized coasters are on their way out from 2018’s season – this year, the late night snacks will come in HOT! Food trucks and fun catering displays featuring fan favorites in an upscale way like fried empanadas with fried plantains, chickpea fries with dill yogurt sauce, macaroni & cheeseburger handwich cones (inspired by Disney's Food & Wine Festival 2017 #Epcot, YAAAS!), garnished hot dogs, BBQ chicken pizza and more. Be sure to grab some personalized bags ordered from Zazzle!

Handpainted Wedding Cakes

Artisanship is all the rage in 2019. Everyone is yearning for something unique and handcrafted. With the trend, in comes the sweet trend of colorful abstract spackle cakes and watercolor sugar flowers!
